t3 Therapy to Takeaway celebrates its first anniversary in Leamington Spa this year. The natural health, beauty and nutrition store recently opened an on site clinic offering a variety of natural therapies including Quantum QXCI health and allergy testing. Suspecting that I wasn't functioning at my peak I went along to seek their advice.
Quantum QXCI health and allergy testing is at the cutting edge of Bio-energetic medicine. A scanning device is used to detect food intolerances, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, toxicity, organ function, hormone balance, as well as virus, bacteria, fungus, parasites, digestive disorders and stress levels. So you might expect all this to take place in a sterile unwelcoming environment. T3 Therapy, located on Regent Street couldn't be further removed from my own pre-conception. Entering the store you are struck by a welcoming atmosphere, a vast array of products and a friendly greeting. On offer are T3's own products, including Flower Essences, Herbal Complexes, Aromatherapy Sprays and Nature's Prescription Kits, alongside many other top brand name vitamins, supplements, homeopathy, organic wholefoods, allergy foods and natural and organic skin and hair care, as well as fresh allergen-free breads which are delivered daily. The Organic Pharmacy, Dr Hauschka and Barefoot Botanicals are just a few of the ranges available.
Prior to my appointment, I had already filled in a very detailed questionnaire and supplied a hair sample, which had been tested in advance, so that Pam, my therapist, could go through the results in detail with me. We went upstairs into one of the treatment rooms which was tastefully decorated in natural tones. I had expected to be hooked up to some futuristic devise but all the analysis had been canried out on my small hair sample. Amazing, but surely it couldn't be that detailed? Wrong again. Pam had no less than eight pages of information to take me through. She eXplained how the hair had been analysed by the scanner, which was linked to a computer programme, enabling the results to be printed out as graphs and charts. Pam explained how the body and hair store memories of a person's life,so a physical and emotional picture is built up. Pam showed me how the highs and lows of the graphs were areas of concern and which organs of my body were struggling, which factors were most likely to cause me health issues and the various causes of stress and toxicity to me personally. Pam had never spoken to me prior to the appointment but the picture she was able to paint was very specific to me and I was already aware of some of the points she highlighted. Other indications were subtler but nevertheless I saw the connection to my lifestyle and well being. Pam has an extensive background in the natural health industry and it was her own wheat intolerance, which took years to diagnose, which lead her to set up her own health shop in Kenilworth and to train in nutritional health so that she could help others. She formulated T3's Nature's Prescription Kitswhich include:No Stress, Mind and Mood, Sleep Easy,Woman, Mature Woman, Take Flight & Frequent Flyerand Cleanse. Each kit is a complete treatment in a box, combining complements with herbs and flower essences, and providing nutritional advice to encourage physical and emotional well being. I was given a list of 12 foods or additives, which my body is intolerant to. Top of the list is milk,which is a big favourite of mine. Pam explained that the human body doesn't have the necessary enzymes to break down milk. Given that I drank a great deal of milk as a child, and still do, my body was struggling to cope. Years ago a milk intolerance would have been a major problem but nowadays there are many alternatives which are readily available. Mydaughter was diagnosed as milk intolerant a few years back so that's two of us now on the Soya milk. Most of the items on the listwon't cause me too much of a problem as they are generally consumed in such small quantities but it iswhen you come into contact with or consume a large amount of an intolerant substance that it is best cut down or preferably cut out completely. I am attempting to avoid all milk products and so far so good. Sugar on the other hand may be mone of a problem. Even to the untrained eye, I could see from my results that sugar was an issue for me. One of the questions on the fonrn was: Which food could you not give up? My reply: "Chocolate." Mysweet tooth would have to be re-educated, so for a start I am trying to cut down on sugar. Even some foods, which I thought were healthier options have high levels of sugar. I never reallytook too much notice of ingredients on packets but now I am becoming an expert at finding that hidden sugar. I haven't cut it out completely but am trying hard to cut down. Pam suggested that a Cleanse Kit would be perfect for my needs. It was no good trying to add nutrients my body was deficient in unless my body was able to make best use ofthem. It's a bit like trying to boil a kettle that is full of limescale - it is less efficient. T3's cleanse Kit is a detox with a difference. It is natural, gentle and cleanses body and mind. I can now move onto the second stage and introduce the vitamins and minerals I am deficient in. This will take a while longer to see the benefits but I have no doubt, will in the long run improve my health and general well being.
